I have always been intrigued by what the woman caught in adultery did next. Maybe it was quick conversion to a be a follower or lots of struggles to give up her lover? Grace experienced in our life can cause us problems of facing change.
Sometimes conversion takes a long time and we have to just be patient with God, ourselves and other people.
I like this quote from Sue Monk Kidd in her book When the Heart Waits -
When it comes to religion today, we tend to be long on butterflies and short on cocoons.
Very taken by the image of Jesus reaching down to the woman as this for me sums up all of what Jesus is trying to do not only in these chapters but throughout his ministry – he’s reaching down to each and every one of us, no matter what we’ve done or how awful we look. He is offering his hand of grace and forgiveness we like the woman just have to be prepared to accept it.
