What difference has the gospel of John made to your life so far?

We are now at the end of our series on John's gospel so there will be no more posts to this blog. However if you would still like to comment I will recieve notification of your contribution.

Thank you to those who have contributed and the blog will remain here for you to revisit the talks from the last six months or so.

We now have a new blog running at http://ashleyalive.blogspot.com so why not visit and see what's going on now.

Compassion Sunday

Next Sunday is our communion service so we take a pause in our study of the gospel of John with time to spend reflecting on what we have studied so far and on the work of Compassion International.

Compassion International Mission statement is: Releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. In response to the Great Commission, Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.

Their website is http://www.compassion.com/default.htm.

We as a church, and as individuals, support a number of children and children’s charities around the world and this would be a good opportunity to remember that. We will set aside a time to pray, hear any news there might be and remember your part of this work as part of our communion service on that day.

Reading though John again, one of my favourite subversive verses is.
"Your care for others is the measure of your greatness"
What a difference our community would be if a movement was created to live out this verse!
